When I first started writing The Legend of Dark Valley, I had one goal in mind.

I wanted to create something that would let readers step into my world without asking them to commit to a full-length novel. I wanted a story that captured everything I love about writing—small-town mysteries, eerie legends, lifelong friendships, and the feeling that something just beyond the trees is watching.

I'm excited to say it's finally here.

The Legend of Dark Valley is a free prequel short story set in the world of The Ghosts of Minera Springs. Whether you've never read one of my books or you've already spent time with Riley, Tobi, and the people of Minera Springs, I think you'll find something to enjoy.

The story follows a group of teenagers chasing a local legend into Dark Valley, where an ordinary summer adventure begins to unravel into something far more unsettling. It's the kind of story I loved hearing growing up in small-town Texas, inspired by the places, folklore, and memories that shaped my childhood.
